Thomas Bieber, MD., Ph.D., MDRA., began his studies in medicine and biology at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France and earned his doctorate degree in Human Medicine in 1982. Dr. Bieber has been serving as a professor in Dermatology and Allergology since 1994, starting at the Ludwig-Maximilian’s University in Munich, and later at the University of Bonn in Germany where he also received a master’s degree in Drug Regulatory Affairs in 2011.

Dr. Bieber has since 2008 been the president of the Dermatological Society of Nord-Rhein Westfalia and the Chief Editor of Allergy, in the official Journal of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) since 2010.

His scientific focus is on the ontogeny and immunobiology of dendritic cells, their role in atopic dermatitis, and in tolerance mechanisms. His main clinical interest is the management of chronic skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. He has received several awards, including the Karl-Hansen Award of the DGAI and the Gold Medal of the Foundation for Allergy Research in Europe.
